June 11, 2010

dessert from barclay prime steak house in philedelphia. the manager found out it was our honeymoon so the pastry chef wrote "congratulations" in chocolate sauce.

this is from a mexican grocery store. everything, and i mean everything, was all stacked like this all through the store. fruits, boxes, cans, if it could be stacked, it was and it looked like this.

me, mai and my aunt jean hanging out in savanah.

sitting in the sun.

ringo, my aunt's dog, who was lucky enough to come to the beach with us.

my niece from mai's oldest brother, her husband and 3 sons.

mai's oldest brother and wife and their 3 grandsons.

climbing all over uncle jesse.

coffee with stephanie in charlotte, nc.

getting segway lessons from kari.

"look at me, i'm a pro!"

riding along in dc. this is the only way one should tour dc. so much nicer than walking.

the capital...

and the smithsonian castle...

and the world war 2 memorial...

and the washington monument...

and the vietnamm war memorial (kenton was a high school friend of my father)...

here's what the whole memorial looks like.

on the steps of the lincoln memorial, martin luther king jr stood and made his "i have a dream" speech.

the lincoln memorial...

looking across the reflecting pool.

self pic that failed to get the washington monument in the background.

me and dad. he spent our 3 days in dc with us and had a blast.

the capital was the final segway tour stop. this was so much fun!

after seeing "national treasure", mai really wanted to go see the archives and the declaration of independence.

one of the best museums however was one of the newest, called the "newseum". very well done and engaging displays, including this chuck of the berlin wall.

the newseum also has the unabomber shack.

s display of sports photography in the newseum.

the newseum has a very well done 9/11 display. this is the base of the tv antenna that was on top of one of the world trade center buildings.

a collection of newspaper headlines from around the world inn response to the bombings.

at the exit of an 11 minute documentary about the bombings, they have a box of tissues mounted.

looking mean with dad.

what a cute couple...

me and dad again.

my brother eric joined us for our last day in dc since my dad's birthday was the day after we left dc and fathers day was a week later.

ami enjoying dupont circle with us.

the cars on this car carrier had somehow caught fire and were backing up traffic for miles. the fire truck just got there as we passed it. i don't think anyone was hurt but i can't imagine how they burned up like that.

i had never been to philedelphia before and so seeing the liberty bell was high on the list for me.

melissa and james hanging out in jersey.

sweet and sour soup from chinatown. this was the small bowl and cost $3 and was really, really good soup. mai ate the whole thing.
